Can Grau Vell makes one wine represented by the 2007 Alcor, a blend of 51% Syrah, 21% Garnatxa, with the balance Marselan, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Monastrell aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak. It is deep purple in color with an inviting nose of smoky oak, mineral, incense, leather, lavender, and assorted black fruits. In the glass its power is on display with densely packed black fruits, plenty of tannin, impeccable balance, and a lengthy finish. All the right stuff is present but 5-7 years of patience will be required. its drinking window will extend from 2017 to 2027.
